Overview
About the ORDEAL Consortium
The ORDEAL consortium brings together nine leading European research institutes, universities, and defence-technology companies. Each partner contributes specialised expertise across radar science, signal processing, sensor integration, and field operations.
Coordinated by INRAD (Netherlands), the consortium operates across seven countries and is structured into six thematic work packages, ensuring complementary roles and clear governance throughout the project lifecycle.

Collaboration
How Partners Work Together
The ORDEAL consortium is structured to maximise complementarity and avoid duplication across all technical and operational activities.
Multi-Domain Expertise
Each partner contributes a distinct technical domain — from radar waveform design and signal processing to machine learning, sensor integration, and field operations — ensuring full coverage of the detection pipeline.
Shared Test Infrastructure
Partners coordinate access to certified test sites across Europe, sharing platforms, sensor suites, and target drone assets. This avoids duplication and enables large-scale, cross-border field campaigns.
Joint Data Management
A common data framework governs collection, calibration, labelling, and archiving across all field tests. Datasets are made available consortium-wide, supporting algorithm development and model training in WP5.
Cross-WP Integration
Partners are embedded across multiple work packages, ensuring knowledge transfer between research, testing, and evaluation phases. Regular coordination meetings align progress and resolve dependencies across teams.
